NEW! Sustainable Construction Management Diploma

Applications are now being accepted for Okanagan College’s first intake of the Sustainable Construction Management Technology (SCMT) diploma program, which starts this Fall, 2013 at the Penticton campus.

This innovative three-year diploma program is a reflection of significant changes that have taken place in the construction industry.

Centre for Learning at the Kelowna campus certified LEED Gold

The first building in the Central Okanagan built to LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold standard has now been certified by the Canada Green Building Council. Following the stringent guidelines, Okanagan College broke ground on the five-storey $28-million Centre for Learning at the Kelowna campus in 2006. The doors opened to students in 2009, but the building only recently received certification.

New Trades Complex: LEED Platinum + Energy Neutral

The Kelowna Trades Complex project will be the first of its kind in British Columbia to transform a complex of this age, size and diversity into a modern learning space that is energy neutral. The vision preserves the existing shops and Trades’ building structure while expanding and transforming the entire complex into the contemporary spaces learners need today.

Green Roof Research at OC Penticton

Did you realize there are a number of Green Roof sections on the Centre of Excellence building in Penticton? Faculty from Okanagan College are carrying out research on the hydrology of the green roof to support scholarly activity and teaching.
