Registration open for Okanagan College’s new Applied Sustainability course!

by Rob St.Onge

Okanagan College’s first Local Open Online Course (LOOC) in Applied Sustainability seeks to promote learning about sustainability goals, practices and behaviours that can enhance quality of life in the Okanagan Valley while living within the limits of ecological systems. This course is different from other open course offerings you may have heard about, because you are in charge of your learning–you can choose to engage with the material, and with other learners, on your own terms and in your own way.

Wherever you start from, this course will enable you to:

Create and nurture new networks of learning within which to pursue your own individual learning pathway;
Discover your own interests and passions with respect to local and global sustainability issues; and
Take action and be empowered in your own life to apply the learning in practical and substantive ways.

If you’re passionate about sustainability—or want to learn more—register now for Okanagan College’s new, free, local, open, online course in Applied Sustainability.

Program creators, and Okanagan College professors, Rosalind Warner and Arnica Rowan are here to tell you more. Watch video.

  This dynamic not-for-credit course is dramatically different than any online learning you’ve tried before.

Work through all the subject areas from food systems to biodiversity or just the ones that interest you, on your own time.

Complete tasks and earn badges as you go.

Register now at www.okanagan.bc.ca/opencourse. Course starts Feb. 17 and runs for six weeks.
