Business EDEN course results in Test of Humanity

Several faculty and family, staff, and students from the Business Administration Department and the Practical Nursing Program (including David Northcott, Sheilagh Seaton, Lynn Sparling, Dana Susheski and Susie Duval) travelled to Ethiopia this spring to work with Canadian Humanitarian as part of the Entrepreneurship and Development in Emerging Nations (EDEN) course.

Local scientist to discuss water issues in public speaker series

Dr. Anna Warwick Sears, Executive Director of the Okanagan Basin Water Board, will address many issues surrounding water in the Okanagan at a public presentation at Okanagan College’s Vernon campus on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 7:30 p.m. as part of the Science in Society Speaker Series (a joint project by Okanagan Science Centre and the Okanagan College).

A group of international students visiting the Salmon Arm campus from Kansai Gaidai in Japan had the opportunity to participate in a dynamic Aboriginal cultural experience during a trip to the Splatsin Band.

Okanagan Organic Festival on Campus Sept 18th!

Okanagan College students and all cyclists will get in free to the Okanagan Organic Festival, Sunday Sept 18. At OC’s Centre for Learning in Kelowna (one of the two venues) there will be Okanagan environmental information, focusing on eco-building, alternative energy and green transportation. Come on out!

Women’s Support Drop-in

Every Friday at the Vernon Okanagan College campus in room #107 there will be a safe place drop-in for all women together, to talk to a women’s support worker, find community resources, solve problems, and recieve referals.

Good to Grow: Kelowna campus community garden

 The Garden is located on the Kelowna campus directly to the east of the facilities building on the north side of campus. The Garden’s beds have been rented out to staff, students and departments for the next year with all rental proceeds going to the Food Bank. Read more »

OC Builds 2 Habitat for Humanity Homes

Habitat for Humanity Kelowna’s next build project will be in partnership with Okanagan College. Students from Okanagan College’s residential framing program will spend four months, beginning in April, building a duplex on the Westside. Read more »
