Volunteer to plant Vernon Campus Food Forest

by Arnica Rowan

On September 14 and 15th, Kalamalka Garden is kicking off its first planting project by developing a demonstration food forest area. A food forest is an example of the permaculture landscapes that Kalamalka Gardens will feature and over 150 trees, bushes, shrubs, herbs, vines and flowers will be planted. We are looking for volunteers to help out with the planting and landscaping.

The work will require digging, planting, and moving compost and mulch. If you are interested n volunteering a few hours on either day please contact Joan at  jsmeyers@okanagan.bc.ca and let her know you availability and she will connect you with volunteer coordinator of this project.

Kalamalka Demonstration Garden – The  Garden project is located just below the lower parking lot. This summer we completed the fencing, irrigation and swale development.
